Presentation 1: Dairy’s Role in Sustainable Nutrition
Overview: The objective of this presentation is to provide a broad perspective on how dairy foods and dairy farming contributes to health and sustainable food systems. U.S. dairy farmers and the U.S. dairy community believe in a world well-nourished and are committed to providing responsibly produced, nutritious dairy foods that help nourish people, strengthen communities and foster a sustainable future.
Speaker: Alyson Fendrick, RD, Marketing Communications Manager for Midwest Dairy
Presentation 2: Increased sustainability through industrial waste heat energy harvesting
Shape memory alloys are a compact, efficient technology that converts thermal energy into mechanical motion. LSG is harnessing this unique capability to generate electricity using the low grade waste heat recovered from industrial processes. The generated electricity can be used on site or sold back to the grid resulting in a more energy efficient operation, thereby increasing sustainability. This scalable solution is applicable to a wide variety of industries, including food processing, metal foundries, chemical manufacturing, and biofuels production to mention a few.
Speaker: Rick Zrostlik of Legov Systems Group (LSG)
