    • Resume to include education, experience, published/presented papers, leadership positions held, awards, honors and scholarships, etc. (resume should not exceed 2 pages unless you are a PhD candidate).
    • College transcript(s): Copy of all college transcripts.  An unofficial copy is acceptable.
  • Short answer questions (3): Please fill out in the Student Profile form.
  1. What are your career goals?  What do you plan to do after graduation and why?
  2. Please list Iowa Section IFT meetings you have attended while a student at ISU.  Which meeting was most meaningful and why?
  3. The purpose of the IA Section IFT is “to support improvement of the food supply and its use through science, technology and education”.  How will an Iowa Section IFT Scholarship enable you to contribute to the IA Section purpose?

 Recommendation:

  • All Scholarships only need ONE recommendation from a faculty member or an industry member who has worked with the student.  Be sure to kindly request, with plenty of time ahead of the deadline, a recommendation from ONE faculty member or industry member who knows you well. Recommenders must fill out the form here.

Company Interaction:

  • Scholarship recipients are expected to interact with representatives of companies that provide the scholarships during the following year, and provide an oral/written update at the November 2019 Student Night.  For instance, a thank you letter is always advised soon after receipt of a scholarship.  ISU students are expected to attend IA section IFT meetings and interact with company representatives until graduation.  A written update (which you are expected to present at the November 2019 Student Night (just 2-3 minutes)) is expected to include a summary of how the scholarship contributed to your education, how you interacted with the sponsor company, and how you contributed to the food industry in 2018/2019. If you graduate before the November 2019 Student Night, you are required to provide a written update.

The Student Profile Form (here) and all required element attachments (typed in English) must be submitted by 11:59PM, October 19th, 2018

SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED AT the November 15th, 2018 Iowa Section IFT meeting.  Meeting attendance is required to receive a scholarship.  If you would like to apply, but will not be able to make it to the meeting, please indicate this on your scholarship application with an explanation of your meeting conflict.  The scholarship committee will take the conflict into consideration.
